| February 1, 2012 | GFMM Monthly meetingA Message from the President Greetings to all members of the GREATer Flint Muddler Minnows! I emphasize GREAT because that's what we hope our club will become once again. Over the past few weeks several members, along with the new slate of officers have gotten together to discuss and plan the next steps to getting the GFMM back on it's feet. My sincere thanks to them for all of their help. I genuinely believe in the saying "If you build it, they will come." If we build a great club, more members will naturally follow. As a club we have had many good times together and now we are asking, or more like pleading with, every one to participate and help in some way to get back to those 'good times' days. Just coming to the meetings is a great help. We need you. And we need you to help spread the word that this is a great group. When I first joined the GFMM it was a nice feeling to know that I could turn to many with a question on fly fishing or tying. I was a beginner for sure and needed as much fishing advice as I could get. No one ever turned me down. But now I need a new kind of advice - how to get the GFMM back on track. It may not be easy, but it will be worth it! So please, take a look at the things we have discussed in the attached document and come to the meeting on February 1st at Gander Mountain. Encourage each other to show up. Bring your ideas to add to the list or simply speak up on those ideas that have been gathered so far. We look forward to seeing you again! Festina lente! One of the things they need of course is flies. So everything that attendees are able to tie that night will be donated. You don’t have to be an expert tyer to donate flies. First time fly tiers can easily participate, and it gives you a chance to become really good at tying one fly. More information to come on types of flies needed. |
